I was trying to find a past article, where someone had used a Ford oil cooler, I think, in where the fresh air blower is, to use for defrost/heat?

Sounds interesting.

Someone mounted a oil cooler in the blower fan, with linkage on how to hook it up. Just can't seem to find the article again.

It wont provide much heat, especially compared to heat exchangers.
Oil isn't the best and conductor of heat, you will have to wait till the engine warms up for the t-stat to open, etc. It's been done on bugs and is marginal at best, might fare better in the smaller 914 cab and still should work better than any electrical solution.
If you have a water cooled go for it, put a heater core in.

Another method would be to install a gas heater, bottom of the frunk, China espar copy diesel heater kits are cheap.
I'd do this by welding a 3" pipe into the gas tank to run the hot air feed thru to the cab. This is how Porsche did it on the 914/8.

I think you may have meant "Ford heater core"? If so, here's that info:

I'm in the middle of fitting this same unit in my fresh air box.

Yes, heater core is what I meant.
I also have a Webasto, but at this point haven't used it yet, but thought since I am in that area, might be a good time to check into this also.

Could you post pictures of it as you go??

Here's where I am on mine. Starting on post #2821.
It's not too big a priority so... It's a '94 Ford Mustang heater core. Cheap on ebay, etc.

A heated windscreen is a lot simpler. Available here in the UK from:-
https://www.heatedwindscreen.com

Mine for the 914 made by Pilkington.

I'll let you know how well mine fits in a few weeks time.....

I don't see the 914 screen on the website. Please do an install thread, take pics, etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Is that something similar to a heated window defroster?
