Never saw this before.
1970 914 6 Ignition on, all dash warning lights normal. Start engine, everything normal. Step on brake, all is well. Step on brake harder, all warning lamps no longer work except alternator lamp which is now constant. Check fuses, # 9 blown .....brake lights and reverse lights. Hmmmm The wires WERE off reverse switch. Long story short...see photo. Incorrectly adjusted brake light switch (required very strong push to switch....) combined with dead short in reverse light switch (!). Problem solved I have no idea how long this car has been driven without working brake lights..... or reverse lights. Or who did the brake light switch adjustment. Attached thumbnail(s) |
