I haven't said anything in the past when I've seen these for sale as I didn't want to step on anyone's sale. That having been said, both SKF and FAG are available and cheap through Rockauto.

You probably missed the part where he was asking for German made bearings. Everyone has cheap lower quality bearings, which is where rock auto fits in. I don’t believe there are anymore real German bearings being made for rear 914 wheel bearings, so they’re probably NOS only! You get what you pay for! After spending hours to replace a 914 rear wheel bearings, I certainly wouldn’t put in a bearing made in Slovakia or Brazil or anywhere else, if I can help it! |

FYI, in my 45 years as a shop owner, and being responsible for the quality of parts used, in my customer’s cars, we always considered Fag as a better quality bearing that SKF. |

Rich is right, real NOS German bearings are very hard to find. His offer over in the original thread is a very good price.

Suit yourself. I deal with multiple bearings every day. It's what I do for a living now that I don't repair cars for a living. SKF stuff has been great as has Fag. Insisting they are German made is up to you. Having installed all kinds of bearings in both automotive and other applications, I wouldn't hesitate to use SKF or Fag bearings no matter where they were made. If you think installing bearings twice sucks, watch a co-worker wipe out $20,000 worth of thrust bearings that were incorrectly set up in a vertical hollow shaft motor. Talk about a bad day!

We’re good, thank you, Sir and thank you to all of you for your input and advice.
I’ll go with Rich‘s German goodies. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge6.gif) Sure would love though to hear that someone has gone 50-100k on Timkens. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif) |
