So the shifter will literally spin all the way around. Any how-to-fix videos or descriptions you can help me out with would be greatly appreciated.

The shaft has come out of the ball in the shifter base.

Get some epoxy or JB Weld to lock it back in place.

Yes, I agree with ClayPerrine.
but in case you feel that the rod going to the back of the car is still moving when you are stirring the shifter then the issue might be one of the next couplers/balls.
