Hi,
I am looking at a pretty rust free '73 with a 1.7 engine. Car has been sitting for about 4-5 years without starting it. I don't suppose the engine is seized up from all that time sitting, but any suggestions on how to turn it over by hand to see if it still moves? Read somewhere to put the car in 5th gear and attempt to push it forward. Would that work or is there a better way? Thanks for the help. Ed |

After a little back and forth with seller, I bought the car. Started some take apart and so far all looks pretty good. I expected a lot of dirt and crud and some rust behind the rocker panel covers and at the pedals, but after some light scraping, very clean. The seats and back pad have cleaned up nicely too.
Didn't know if the engine was seized up, but it rolled over in 5th gear when pushing the car. Now to start it. I appreciate the previous comments on starting it up. I think I got the photos attached? Sorry if not oriented the right way. Not a real tech savvy person. Ed |
