The picture of the door jamb looks good; very good. Almost too good. The fender seam ends about and inch before the bottom of the fender. Might be bondo?

Need to look at the hell hole under the battery and the jack points. If you look at the car again, ask to jack it up using the jack points; see if they are solid.

About the 1.7L engine, I would advise against it. If you're going to look for an engine, look for a 2L or larger. I bought a 2.056L with dual carbs from Brad Mayeur for less than that. Having owned a 1.7L, 1.8L, 2L, and 2.056L, go for the 2L or larger engine. The power difference will transform the car. With the 1.7/1.8L, I could out drag a fully loaded semi-truck from a red light. With the 2/2.065L, I could keep up with some of the lower powered cars of today.

After a little back and forth with seller, I bought the car. Started some take apart and so far all looks pretty good. I expected a lot of dirt and crud and some rust behind the rocker panel covers and at the pedals, but after some light scraping, very clean. The seats and back pad have cleaned up nicely too.
Didn't know if the engine was seized up, but it rolled over in 5th gear when pushing the car. Now to start it. I appreciate the previous comments on starting it up.

I think I got the photos attached? Sorry if not oriented the right way. Not a real tech savvy person.

For $4K you STOLE that car!
Excellent find!

The odometer on these cars are notorious for breaking. Mine has had 45K miles on the clock since the day I bought it.

Do the basic for the motor - new plugs, cap, wires, dwell and timing. Fresh gas. Fresh oil. Valve adjustment. I bet it fires right up.

...the original jackposts are still in place. The longs look like from the factory. Holy smokes! That car was a steal for 4k according to the pictures.

And the brown interior fits great with the yellow paint. Looks like even the seats are in good condition. Rare find.

CONGRATULATIONS! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Many thanks. Unfortunately, I started at $4k but had to go to $5,000 to get it. I guess still not a bad deal given what I have found so far = all good.
