Hi ! Great video again. Your rockers and covers are in great shape ! all can be re-used. and to answer your question : "Am I the only person with a Porsche on blocks?"....welll....NO ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But most if us have it on jackstands at same point and not on blocks, but the idea is the same. Keep up the good work !! Alright, I don't want to be the grinch that stole Thansgiving but am I the only one concerned about how the car is supported by cinder blocks? I'm hoping there are jackstands somewhere. Really enjoy these videos but don't want to see anyone get hurt. Please work safely. Cinder blocks are not for supporting cars. Worse yet, they are stacked sideways. Cinder blocks are designed to support compression load in a vertical direction (hollow cores oriented vertically). Even then they aren't terribly robust to side loading. Stacking them sideways is the worst possible way to use them assuming that they are the only thing at hand and that you must use them. Concrete doesn't yield with any warning. It simply collapses almost instantaneously. Please consider obtaining a set of jack stands. Yes, loved the video but the cinder blocks made me cringe. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Yup, put the jackstands at the top of your Xmas list. Besides, it will make you part of a very large contingent of 914 owners. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Be sure to get the kind that secure the support with a pin....NO RATCHET STYLE STANDS. Those cinder blocks are strictly for rednecks working on old pickups. Thanks for the great videos...you do know you're a star in the 914 world, don't you? Done and Done! The blocks are out and real jacks are on their way! Thanks for the info here you guys! |

Great video! We've all had that look when we remove the rockers for the first time and realize they're dirt traps (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif). Keep it up, Frances. You're a joy to watch. Hello! Thanks for check in here. I wonder if they can be closed off from dirt? They were originally installed with plastic rivets so they could be easily removed and maintained. 914rubber has the plastic rivets. Level 1 maintenance is to squirt the inside of the outer rocker from the rear wheel well at every car wash. Level 2 is to undo the bolts along the bottom which should allow just a bit of clearance to squirt the inside better. Levvel 3 is to completely remove the outer rockers completely. |

Frances, you’re soooo cool; loads of personality! Well done with those outer longitudinals. They’re in very good shape. Your Dad is an excellent videographer, but you make it fun by how expressive you are. Looking forward to the next video. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Hey Thanks for watching! |

Actually, the rockers (side valences) were and should be installed with 1/8 in aluminum pop rivets which drill out easily to remove the valence. The threshold plates above the valence were and should be installed with plastic rivets (black for the later cars) which can be removed and reused. |
