So I figured since I keep buying crusty Porsches to fix up so I figured an ultra sonic parts cleaner made sense. I bought one big enough to do carbs because well why not right? Any how I have never used one of these things before and was wondering if anyone with experience has a recommendation for cleaning solutions to use? I have researched online and there are a million different recommendations but figured I would start here. Let me know if you have a recommendations. Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have been using an ultrasonic cleaner for a year now. I use a solution of Heavy duty Simple green, distilled water, and a small amount of dawn detergent. The simple green will not attack aluminum. Not sure about magnesium.
I got the formula from a thead here in the world. Do a search for it. There are several different formulas suggested by different users.
By the way, I love my ultrasonic cleaner. I have used t a lot. I to bought one big enough to do carbs, but I haven't cleaned a single cat yet. But I have cleaned a lot of other parts.
Good luck and have fun with your cleaner.
Bill.

I agree Simple Green works well for Aluminum. I tried it on a small expendable Magnesium part and didn't like the result. It appeared to etch it.
