Very sad to hear of his passing. He lived close by and had his car serviced at TRE before the trip up to WCR. I know he was a proud owner.

Really sad to read this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Danny seemed like a very cool guy. I enjoyed the tone/vibe in his posts after he joined—I think after getting the really nice yellow car from BaT (?).

My condolences to his family and friends, and to those of you who got to know him.

Stay safe out there, everyone…

Very sad to hear this. Spoke with him about his car at the winery during WCR. I believe he met up with the group in Gorman for the drive north.
This might be his car on the grapevine. Very nice guyAttached Image

its not good.

so all you old c$%ts out there (thats aus lingo for good blokes),
wear a mask, its not left wing its not right wing.

we have been through the world's longest lockdown here in vic aus.
supposedly the virus is elimininated.
i've got my doubts.

the economic cost has been devestating.

but if you are over 60, wear a mask and be cautious.
i've got medico friends.

younger than that you are fine.

very sorry to hear about this.
and distressed to hear about the state of things in the usa.
i love america, i lived in chicago there in the late 80s/early 90s.
it is a great country.

get through.
look after yourselves.

This is terrible news. I really enjoyed hanging out with him in Petaluma during this year’s WCR. His yellow 914 was a true survivor, and my wife and I had the pleasure of driving behind him on the first day’s drive to the winery. Despite it being a cream-puff car, he flogged that car like he stole it. It really impressed my wife that his stock car could perform so well through the Sonoma mountain twisties. I credit Dan and his car for my’ wife’s enthusiasm in letting me buy another 914 (this time to restore). I never got the chance to thank him for that. Prayers to his family from Geoff and Nancy.

KCBS-KCAL Lighting Director Danny McElroy Has Died
By Michael Malone a day ago

CBS Stations veteran had battled COVID

Danny McElroy, lighting director at CBS Television Stations-owned KCBS-KCAL Los Angeles, has died from complications related to COVID. He was 65.

McElroy has been the stations’ lighting director since 2009.

Before his time in Los Angeles, he worked for CBS in New York. McElroy also pitched in with design work for other stations in the CBS group, including those in New York, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco and Sacramento.

“I always considered Danny to be a model employee,” said Jay Howell, KCBS-KCAL president and general manager, in a memo to staffers. “He was great at his job, a supportive colleague and a genuinely kind soul.”

KCBS and KCAL staffers plan to gather and celebrate what Howell called McElroy’s “remarkable life” when it is safe to do so.

Here is a picture of Danny and his car at WCR in Petaluma last month. That's him in the black shirt with his yellow 914 in the driveway at the motel.

Here’s a link to the CBS tribute.

He also mentioned at Dinner that they liked his work so much, they had him do all the studios.
