Had a great time on Sunday. Beat up on cars 2 classes up from us. This was a big HP track and that's not what I have, I'm slowly working on a 2270, but it will be a while before that is ready for sure. New springs seem to work out really well. I still need to check to see where the "tattle tale" ended up to see if I'm still bottoming out, but I think we are really close now.

Nice! Thanks for sharing.

Narrow-body?

Tire size?

I did my first autox a few years ago at the Camarillo airport in the slingshot - participated for a year (before they got shut down (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) ) - Re-71r's completely transformed the experience - 0.8 to 1 sec average for me -amazing tires for 200 tread wear.

It is a narrow bodied car on Hoosier A7’s. Motor is a carefully built 2056. I did stay in 3rd, but it’s a MSZ box with a WaveTrac.

Curious about your suspension/alignment setup. It looks like your car rotates really aggressively.

The car is sprung very aggressively with no rubber anywhere. It probably runs 2X the spring rate than what most people consider adequate for autocross. Moderate sized front bar (don't need a huge one with big torsion bars) and no rear bar (although I plan to test with one).

Alignment is basically as much camber and caster as I can get, some toe out in front, and a lot of toe in on the rear to help stabilize the rear.

POC is running the events I go to now. PCA-OCR had a big falling out a few years ago now and we all jumped ship. GMG is the main sponsor for the series, with a rotating list of individual event sponsors.

The next event has a car on the flyer you may recognize. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

I have been meaning to try a toe out alignment, think i may give that a go this year. Im running similar with solid bushing everywhere 21mm front bar and 180lb rears, max camber/caster but with 1/8" toe in front and rear. its a very neutral/stable setup that allows steering with the throttle mid corner but my front end doesn't respond nearly as aggressively as yours appears to. Was thinking of investing in some scales this year and will probably try a different alignment setup in the process.

Really hoping to get my car whipping around the cones like yours does. Looks great. Took the last couple years off autox but in my absence there has been a new Gt3 showing up to local events walking all over everyone. It has me feeling the urge to represent the 914 out there again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

May need to invest in some r-comps too. the Gt3 is running them and not sure ill be able to pull it off with the BFG Rivals, that car is a monster.

I don't think any 914 that resembles a street car will catch the newest water cooled stuff. Especially in the modified or GT classes. I'm 5 seconds off the fastest cars on a HP track (including the infamous Tom Berry) 49.X vs 54.X. Granted, I've got a relatively low power motor and am not a super human driver.

Hoosier A7's and toe out will change everything for turn in. Including your budget... You will need to spring the shit out of it to get it to not bottom out and be able to sustain the G load in a corner. Especially in the transitions... (L-R-L-R). You will also need at a minimum a Mad Dog Motorsports long kit and a Tangerine Racing inner ear scab plate. Camber plates are pretty much mandatory too.

Galen at Werks 2 in Burbank has really helped me fine tune the car. I got it 90% there, but he is responsible for the alignment, corner balance, and spring recommendations. Can't recommend him enough.

Local PCA stuff here isnt that intense and a lot of the lots we have access too tend to favor handling over HP. Well prepped 914s with a half way decent driver usually have a chance of landing near the top. Not saying its going to be possible, but for me the fun is in the challenge.

Also mine only vaguely resembles a street car at this point.

The SCCA guys would probably mop the floor with me though.
