IIRC the transaxle & shift linkages were adapted directly from the 908 racer that this drive train came from. Maybe look it up on the Porsche or Porsche Museum websites where they covered this car - which they had dubbed "914-S".

yes.......i can see because its coming out of the rhs of the car that it must be adapted somehow (but directly adapted (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) ) from the 908 or the 917s........ their shifter was on the rhs sill too, (or a 917 anyway).

that shifter rod must do some weird things once it gets inside the cabin to get to the central shifter? wonder what it shifts like --- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

i've not seen anything much on this car in terms of detailed tech. these were the first images i had ever come across of what its like underneath. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) nothing on the porsche website or museum.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

also some wild looking fuel line routing and insulation wrapping.
wonder if it suffered from vapor lock.
or are they oil lines? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There's a detailed drawing somewhere.

Basically, it goes from the shift lever to the right and then straight back under the passenger seat.
