I'm not sure about you, but I've been looking around at the cost and availability of engine compartment seals, and I'm amazed at how expensive these are. Mine were all baked off from a fire, and I must replace all.

I can make these, but to break even on the die I need to find 40 people that would buy them at $50.

I might just have them made if there is enough serious interest.

I'm not sure that there's that much interest, that's why I thought I might post this to see.

Also as I understand there are 2 different seals I above the engine, and the other 3 sides are the same.

If all 4 are the same the cost would be significantly less as only one die would be required.

I'm not looking to get rich, I just want to get some parts at a more reasonable cost.

i think that's a great idea! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

i for one would buy a set. mine are not too bad but have a few cracks. good used ones are hard to come by ...

i'd buy a set for $50 ...

as for the top seal, i *think* they're all the same. someone else hopefully chimes in here ...

if by "top" you mean the rear... it's differentvery different

I'd be in for $50... that's 1/4 the price! and the front is NLA, but it's just like the sides in profile... only longer

I'd buy a set at that price, now that I'm sticking with air-cooled power...

i thought he meant "there are 2 different versions of the TOP seal" ...
to which i replied "i don't think so" ...

but yes, the TOP seal is different than the 3 surrounding seals ...

Mikey, I just bought the 3 sides, but was fortunate to be able to reuse the rear. Even though I don't need a set today, I think this is a great price and product that the 914 community would definately use. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

$50 is a great price. But if this deal doesn't work out, Don at GPR sells the set (all 4) for $80.

engine seals

I bought a set from him. Good fit and quality.

Sounds like there is enough interest. Does anyone have some dead seals that about 2" would be good. I need to get samples for production.

Hey I know...you could buy my set (of three) on eeeeeBay right now...

No one has bid yet, but there are alot of people watching this auction. Someone might look into the other VW cars...busses?...any Karmann product that might be similar and use similar extrusions.
