Cruising the local CL, sorted on Porsche 914 and these cars show up:

70 Jag ragtop https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/d/vaca...7315995755.html

59 Vette w/hardtop https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/d/vaca...7314652718.html

57 Isetta https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/d/vaca...7310304243.html

Am shocked at the asking price for the Isetta. Am so tired of searching for an item only to be deluged by sellers who list everything in the book trying to find a potential buyer.

Anyway...Between the Vette and the Jag which would be your choice if you had to pick one? They are both a bit flashy for my tastes, but prced similarly.

I would buy the Jag. Drive it once and then store it in the garage knowing that I had a 100% successful driving record with it.

I'd take the Isetta. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

You can drive it flat out all the time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

^ Wisdom.

With that said, I rode in a fuel-injected Corvette of that period and was shocked when I opened the door and…didn't drop in. I just sort of slid onto the benc, er, seat. A '64 Corvette Convertible I drove later, stunning in light green metallic/silver over green with a four-speed stick, felt just as trucky—but man did it look and sound glorious. Shifted nicely, too.

But nowhere near as nicely as an E-type I drove. It was a three-strikes E, too: Series III > V12 > 2+2 coupe. But the steering feel/accuracy shocked me, the shifter gave an S2000 a run for its money, and I had more fun driving it than I wanted to admit. Between the two you've got here, Jeff, I'd have to go Jag. This despite Egan's dire warnings about what happens should you need to replace a clutch…

The XKE Jaguar is my favorite all-time car because I’ve never owned one. If I bought one it probably wouldn’t be. The reality would ruin the fantasy.

You’re assuming it wouldn’t leave you stranded the first trip (an optimist (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )

I grew up in the mid west and I have always wanted a Corvette. Unfortunately, my last name doesn’t end in a vowel. Please don’t mind my crude humor. I am lusting for a C8. Let’s see my choices. C8 or 4 cylinder Boxster. Hmmmm.

Depends on what you're going for. The Jag is more of a head-turner IMHO because you don't see them [running] too often. I see lots of Vettes.

I also can't help picturing a woman in a scarf driving the Vette. If you've got a good scarf, go for the Vette. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

In which case he would also have a 100% score.

The Jag in white. I saw that on Craigslist in my daily search for the hidden gem. That car looks simply stunning.

Both the females in my house, wife Kathy and daughter Mikayla, said Vette.

Ever sit in an early Corvette ?
The twenty inch steering wheel is six inches from you chest and three inches
above your thighs.
Ever drive one ? Pickup truck.

Drive them, one will speak volumes to you. I used to loathe the E type, then drove one, it changed my mind. One of the most fun drives in a car I’ve ever had. A head turner too.

It will be temperamental, It will break if you let it sit, it will leak, it will develop random electrical issues that get you stranded, then go away when you get it back to the garage... just know that going in, but when it’s running well, it’s bliss!

sounds like an early thunderbird that i had the misfortune to drive.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif)

i'd choose not to choose.
......if threatened with death, i would accept the vette and give it away to someone i did not like. i would not wish the jag on my worst enemy.
