How many of you had watched Grand Prix last night on TCM? Great movie!

I've been waiting for the DVD versionn of Grand Prix to be released for some time now. My web searches turned up only a "Making of Grand Prix" DVD being offered for sale. This morning, Michael Moore, 914club member from
GA , sent me link to a web site where anyone can sign a petition requesting the owners of the film to release it in DVD format. Here's the link:

I urge anyone who is a true race fan to go to this site and sign the petition. Who knows, it may actually work.

Great movie. I watched Grand Prix as a kid over and over. I had the original record that had sounds from the movie and could tell the differnce between all the cars just based on engine sounds.. In fact over the years I have picked up 2 more albums that are in perfect shape and I have vintage Grand Prix movie posters too. I just need to find a record player and transfer the sound track to a cd.

The making of Grand Prizx DVD was disapointing to me. It really didnt have a significant amount of footage and poorly pulled together. A couple good scenes. Nothing like the making of Le Mans movie.

I'm on several services that will update me via email when the DVD is released.

Thanks for that link. They put Le Mans on DVD, but I've been waiting for Grand Prix for quite some time. Unfortunately, Frankenheimer died recently, so he can't help with any supplemental material. SPEED had some fabulous interviews with him a James Garner when they did a big blow out showing, and told a lot of really nice behind the scenes stories (like how Yves Montand was towed around the banking in a partial tub, and the two car was a GT40).

I have a press package from when the movie was released and the Popular Mechanics mag that showed how they wrecked and filmed the cars.

I have an old long play record of a 1960's F1 Grand Prix from Sebring. It has the broadcasters, car sounds, and interviews. I no longer have a turn table hooked up to my stereo, but I need to put in on a disk so I can add it to my collection of priceless stuff! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I also watched it last night.
I went and saw it when it came out when I was a kid, we had a Cooper Cinerama theater in our town with a 100ft wide screen and I bet i went and saw Grand Prix a half a dozen times, the Cinerama theaters were awsome I saw many classic movies shot in the 3 Strip and 70mm Cinerama format there. How the West was Won, Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Battle of the Bulge, 2001 Space Odyssey, Ice Station Zebra, and Airport had their Premire there, Reds was the last movie I saw before they tore it down.
It was like watching a movie in 4D.

Yeah occasionally you can see the albums on evil bay. Opened up my box of old stuff and found a Grand Prix movie brochure as well. It has about 20 pages of photo's bios, information on the cars, circuits etc. Pretty cool. Forgot I had it!
