There's an old guy up the road that has one in his barn. It's been sitting since '91 all covered in bird crap and 4 flat tires. A buddy of mine took me over to look at another car he had. The guy has about 5 acres full of cars. The barn is where he keeps the special stuff though.

I guess he was driving it one day and the door wouldn't open for him in the middle of summer. He was so pissed after almost dying (a/c didn't work) that he parked it and hasn't messed with it since. I tried to get him to sell, but he wouldn't.

This guy is the most nasty crusty person you'd ever meet. As we drove up my buddy warned me to keep the kids in the car. I'd go back, but the images he puts in your mind are unbearable. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

wow, they look good painted!

I worked with a woman who had one (back when they were new). She would drive it to work every once in a while, but occasionally she wouldn't be able to put it in gear, so one day after our shift I had to put it in gear for her...it wasn't too bad. I'd like to have one as part of a stable one day.

How and why?

Paint was never an option. It's common because it is IMPOSSIBLE to get any dent our of the stainless steel they used. And EVERYTHING on that car is NLA.

I had one for a stint in the early 90s...fun car, but when the AC didn't work...LOOK OUT! (There is about a 4" X 10" window that rolled down.)

That was the first car I MADE money on...had it for 2-3 months, and made like $3,000. (BOught it from my Grandma's neighbor...long story.) Wish I still had it...that'd be worth a LOT nowadays...

912 same engine as 914 that's why 912's don't get any respect either.

Early 912 = 356 engine
Late 912 = 914 engine

That makes it a 2 time loser (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

Well damn I didn't know that.
Never seen too many 912's around of course hard to tell with all them poser 911 guys running around. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)
never miss a 356 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer.gif)
nor a 914 duh of course (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif)

Oh yea seen a Delorean yesterday at the shop of all places. (Airforce auto hobby) I was mounting up some new race tires and he of course has it up on a rack scratching his head. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif)
Never went over to talk, he looked a little bewildered and irritated. "cool car" (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/barf.gif) coment may not have helped any.

I liked the prototype for the car, too bad they couldn't have made that(ditto the Boxter) but I always thought it was just a less attractive version of a Pantera. Now THAT is a nice set of electric trains.......

the 912E is the type IV powered car.

My 356 was only 8500 bucks in 99 or 2000, drove it for a couple years before I sold it to a Dutch guy who took it overseas to restore it.

I really wish I'd kept it. It would be in pieces in my garage right now (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
