Is there any way to test a 1.8l air flow meter when a car isn't available to test it on?

The AFM consists of 3 internal parts:

1: Air temp sensor
2. Fuel Pump relay switch
3. Variable resistor

The air temp sensor shares a common ground with the variable resistor on the 6 pin meter. On the 7 pin meter, the air temp sensor is isolated from the variable resistor.

I don't remember the pinouts, but you should be able to find out by just popping the top off and look at the pins. Using a multimeter on the ohms setting, you should see a smooth sweep when opening the flap on the air flow meter. The switch will be open when the flap is closed, and you will get continuity on the switch when the flap is opened.

The temp sensor is (IIRC) should have the same value readings as the temp sensor screwed in the top of the D-Jet intake.

Hope that helps.
