Is there any way Porsche/VW can bring up the record of the cars original selling dealership by the VIN ? All I know is the car was originally from New Jersey and brought to PA in 1980. I had luck with this a few years ago for my older Mercedes.

Does anyone have a list of NJ Porsche/Audi dealerships in 1971 ?

The window stickers or an original nill of sale, if you have one, indicates the selling dealer. Only source I know of.

In addition to the Window sticker and the Bill of sale, there is also the original Maintenance Record book where the dealer was supposed to fill it in. But you have to be very lucky to have even one of these. Otherwise, the best that can usually be obtained is the port of entry, and thus the regional distributor.
If you have an original six, then there is a service that may have that info.

There was a dealer in Parsippany, New Jersey.
Herman+Miller
Porsche+Audi

Info from my SC’s original sales receipt from 1978.

Side note, Paul Miller Racing in IMSA is part of this dealership to this day.

Thanks for this. I note the 1978 date...is there any knowledge that this PA dealer was in business in the 914 era?

Took mine to them in 1974 several times as just moved here from VA. I don’t think they sold 914s but did service them. The building is now empty but now located a mile or two west on the other side of the road.
