I have been looking at other shifter options as part of shifter relocation thoughts on my car which is equipped with a side shift 901 box.
Doing a search, I found this V8 conversion race car equipped with a 930 gearbox. It has a Corvette C5-C6 shifter that has the benefit of creating a rotation movement when moving the shift lever left to right in the same direction as the standard 914 side shift shifter. I was wondering if anyone would have information on the setup of this car which was for sale a few years back. Any knowledge of where this car is today? Thank you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) http://914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=222526 |

That would be Terry Stewart's car, which he sold a few years ago. He was having troubles with the stock shifter coupled to the 930 trans (a rear shift rod configuration). I suggested he try the Vette shifter housing. The initial install didn't work out too well, as the mounting in the rear by the trans allowed too much flexing. I suggested a change, which I'm confident would have worked out, but I believe he sold the car about this time and don't know where it all ended up.
Since the Vette has the fore/aft/rotational functions, it may work for the side shift trans given that the functions match up. Good luck, Andys |
