The "Heuliez" Porsche 914-6.
Pretty wild.
Didn't realize the entire rear top section comes off.

Not sure how it doesn't overheat. I guess concept and show cars don't need to go far.

There were a number of one-off concept cars in the period trying to "fix" the 914's polarizing/unpopular design. Thing is, the 914's design was way, way ahead of its time—and it just keeps settling in with me more and more as 31 years have passed. Butzi's team knew what it was doing, even if the world wasn't ready for the 914.

Stock NB cars, M471/GTs, and even BUB cars are looking better and better to me by the day. So functional. So pure. So "car."

As for period 914 concept cars, the Tapiro was the one in my book. Just a stunner, and too bad it burned. Frua's 914 was pretty nice, too. The rest remain "period pieces at best" to these eyes, and have done exactly the opposite of their basis. YMMV…

Tapiro definitely has my vote.
I'm sure there has been many a thread on these cars.
