I should be getting by car back from the painter this week (some version of Signal Orange?) and am starting to assemble my interior. I've gotten a pair of new leather seat covers that are tan (ish). I am trying to match the rest of the interior to these seats and just dyed the arm rest and an extra door panel to see how they would look. What do you think? How would the black carpets look with these? I think the tan would be such a different color that it would not look good?

black carpets would be OK, had a 914 with a tan interior and black carpets. Are you doing the backpad tan as well?

944's and 968's had a 2 tone interior that I always thought looked awesome. Most were black and tan, although a lot lighter shade than yours. It look good (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

The more I think of it the two-tone should look good. I will do the backpad in tan as well.

I've done the seats, door panels, backpad, center seat pad, and middle of the center console, in the tan, with the rest in black. Looks really good, and lots cooler than all black. All I have left to do is the dash face in tan, and I'm done. I may eventually do all but the middle carpet piece in tan too, but that's a bit down the road.

Those seats look great. Who made the seat covers for you and how was the cost?
Also, what brand of dye did you use and is it for leather or vinyl? |

STL914 - I bought the seats from a felow board member and they are covered in leather and have never been installed in a car - essentially brand new! So I know nothing about the covers?
The dye I am using is the aerosol paint made especially for plastic. I think the manufacturer is SEMS? I spoke to the guy at the local paint store and he said they work well, unless you make a drastic color change on something that gets a lot of wear, like a drivers seat. I also used this "adhesion promoter" that was recommended. They came out good - even the door panel with the texture! Long term, we will see. |

I'll take some once the car is back from paint, and I get the dash piece on. "Should be" a week or so, according to the paint shop. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |
