Something I found on line that says it fits 78-89 Porsche 911. Mercedes, BMW. It has all the same measurements as a stock 914 tie rod end. Thinking this should be plug and play for the 914 and give you the grease option. Not sure of what to make of Plastic cover Around $20 at Rockauto.

I think that plastic cover/dome just sits over the tapered shaft to protect it from getting banged up if it's packaged in a kit with other product.
