Yep. Nelson lost his passion and did the honorable thing by sending her home for me to sort and sell for him.

There will be many more pictures soon, but here she is, freshly delivered from NM.

Starting price will be $65k.

I'm happy and sad. I want it to go to a good home. It's the finest car I've ever built.

3.2L, Nikasil, JE 10.5:1, Twin plug, PMO throttle bodies, custom fuel injection and ignition, rotisserie body build, steel flares. It's literally the only actual 'zero rust, zero accident' car I've done in 30 years of doing this.

As I always say: "Offered here first"..... because this is the first place it should be offered.

Nice car. I’ve read through the build a couple times. You might be too low. I bet it would bring $80k + on BAT

I appreciate that very much. Let me get it going again, driving and detailed. I'll see where it goes from there.

I'm trying to figure out how to put this, because it's a little emotional for me to have my work recognized in this way.

I just received a call from a world-famous racer who is interested in buying the car.

Because I have no deposits or commitments at this moment, I am choosing to give him first right of refusal.

I would love for him to own a piece of my work, but even if he passes, I'm extremely humbled to have received the call.

Please stand by.

I had some difficulty maintaining my composure while I was on the phone. I asked "Am I speaking to THE ............". He took a moment, then said yes.

I'm still taking deep breaths.

Nelson's car is under contract.

I will ask the new owner if he's comfortable with me revealing his identity after I deliver it to him in a few weeks.

This place helped make me who I am in this specialty and I appreciate all of you very much.

Hey there! I'd chime in with a link to the build thread, only it doesn't exist because we used the ClubNARP board at the time of the build and ClubNARP board is gone. I wrestled with what to do before it left, but there did not seem to be a way to transfer that site's posts to this site, sadly. I did grab a ton of pictures to add to those that I had already taken myself or saved when Joe sent them to me as he was building it.

I really do have a ton of pictures. I could post them in another thread, but I don't want to flood this For Sale thread with pictures of the build. I dunno ... I'll mull it over with Joe. It would really take a long time to post all of those pictures. It might be worth it, but again ... I'll mull it over with him.

In the meantime, I can't wait for Joe to reveal who is buying my car. He is a legend.

Thanks, Jon and Joe - no worries, there’s no need to make more work for yourself by recreating a build thread - GLWTS!

My car was sold to Dick Barbour Performance. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Yes, THAT Dick Barbour. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) Mr Barbour is a very nice guy to talk to, a consummate gentleman and humble considering his endurance racing history. I think he will be inducted into the Sebring hall of fame this year! Yeah. Slightly legendary.

He said he wants to “keep this one”, from what Joe O’Brien told me. When I talked to him, he was excited to have a 914 this nice and with this level of modification and restoration done to it. I’m so happy the car went to such a great home! His son Ales sent me this picture of Dick with the car. Says it all, really. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

That didn’t take long.
Say what you will about flippers … it was sold between educated adults and the new owner has the right to do whatever he wants with his car.
