I don't like the politics of FB, but it fits pretty seamlessly into other hobbies of mine. I'm in vintage downhill mountain bike groups, watch groups, local neighborhood groups, Land Rover groups, and of course the 914 and vintage Porsche stuff. No other place can bring me updates on people's projects like FB and Instagram. Just need to learn how to sift through the garbage and hide people you might have issues with. And at the same time realize that there are never winners in internet feuds.
For any real tech info it's always here though, or for project threads and classifieds. I was a moderator on a local European car club forum for many years, we fought the rise of Facebook groups tooth and nail, eventually we had to hang up the pride and create a FB presence for our club and just let people choose one, the other, or both. The club members were generally younger and eventually it got to the point where we shut the forums down due to inactivity. |

100% here for useful and helpful information. I trust the guys here and non at all in social media.
I do have FB for keeping my extended family updated with photos. My wife and others tags me. I don’t post at all or hardly responds to messages. I do like IG just for photos of 914 and food. I follow a fellow in Japan that shares photos of his 914-6, race cars and ramen. No tiktok because the dancing bra challenge keeps me glued to the screen and I won’t have time for other things. |

Facebook is great for the marketplace.
You just need to know how to navigate it. You are able to block peoples post so you don't have to wade through their BS. I use it for other vehicles I have that don't have good forums. Jake Raby has a facebook page that I enjoy learning things on. Plus you have to get accepted, so there are not many people spouting BS. You really just have to know how to use it. It has evolved so that it is easier to access the content you desire. Pete |

Facebook is great for the marketplace. I disagree (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Unless you are more generally referring to the exposure available via FB .. The marketplace facility SUCKS!! |

I tend to believe no good comes from social media places like Facebook, etc. Bunch of posers from what I have seen in the past. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) |

I like Facebook and Instagram (Follow @914Seis) to share photos, connect with other enthusiasts and owners, etc. Where-as I prefer 914World for topics that require more substance; How-to's, Technical items, Tips, etc.
.... Remember to follow @914Seis (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) |

This survey only makes sense if it’s also done on FB.
For me it’s only here (no face book). |

I "have to" spend some time on Facebook because of the business.
It's not the political portion I don't like, it's the idea that you are the commodity, they are sneaky about how they collect data, and if you use messenger (at least on android) it defaults to it for texts unless you reset it. |

I haven't opened a FB page in close to 12 months.
I suppose I'll have to update my business page if I have any breakthroughs on hardtop kits though. |

Delete FB. It's a cancer. A recent Wall Street Journal article on Facebook's knowledge of how damaging Instagram can be to girls confirmed what we all knew, but the headline failed to drive home a much bigger point: It's toxic for a lot of people. And I've found my own outlook is healthier, happier, and more productive when I haven't been scrolling through IG. Without the paywall, and worth at least a scan: https://abc7ny.com/facebook-knows-instagram...ssues/11022272/ As others have noted, it's difficult to run a business with no presence on FB and IG—like Google, they own the marketplace for larger audiences. What few are talking about is the fact that the followers > conversion rates are unimpressive for many businesses, though is it a surprise that viewers paying $0 for "the feed," and often engaging with it at about that level, are unlikely to turn into paying customers? Watching other forums struggle against FB and IG is another reminder how fortunate 914 enthusiasts—and their cars—are to have this place. |
