Firewall bolt cap, Missing In Action? Options

Might anyone know a) if there should be some sort of trim cap on the bolt that is exposed through the firewall pad and located just forward of the main relay board (see photo) and b) if so, its part number? I don't see it in any of the parts diagram and I'm not sure what it's connecting to on/in the firewall. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
Mine's been "open" for several decades but not sure if there was a cap that fell off or it's just "open". At least I've finally gotten around to cleaning it up (after the photo).

Ok; seems to the consensus of 1.8L folks. Might still try to get a plastic trim cap to provide a cleaner appearance. Cheap.

Hobo finish hack: Here's what I did:
1. Before anything.
2. Clean up the area.
3. "Nylon hole plug; 1" diam" at ACE Hardware; 75 cents. Got 2 since presume there's another one on the firewall in front of the battery. Will check/do next time battery is out.
4. Done. Put one wrap of friction tape on plug collar to improve traction.
Cheap. Clean. Quick. My favorite kind of maintenance!
Unsure if Porsche or VW meant for a hole cover to be there, but if not, there SHOULD have been.

Unfortunately no. My car is about to be torn apart for a chassis overhaul and engine reseal. The brake fluid leaking through the break lines was the last straw. My car is all original to the point of being dangerous right now!

The wipers! Will send pic tomorrow. The “bent” arm one goes on the drivers side; the straight arm one goes on the passenger side. When correct, the geometry makes sense.
Also, a 1.8 made just a few vin numbers before mine is here and has the charcoal can in the front. Will send pics on that thread tomorrow, too. FYI, @wonkipop

good another data point.
get the K# as well as the VIN if you can.

the derelict one in a back yard that was posted up a couple of weeks ago was a engine bay can with an earlier VIN than 2 charcoal can ones i found last year.
i'd say there is a bit of overlap going on if you used VIN numbers, but K#s might tell a slightly different story. unfortunately the derelict one had no K# info with it.

ps - i thought everyone knew about the wipers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
must be common mistake to get them the wrong way around.
