Since I bought the 914 I have been sadly neglecting my other project car. Had to take it out of storage today and put some miles on it. Way faster but not nearly as fun. That brings back memories… I had an 86 GT convertible in red with the flat black hood and bottom body stripe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I keep looking for it! |

got a soft spot for them there mustangs.
everywhere in chicago in the late 80s when i was living through a couple of real winters. i liked the ones with the front end as below. been fixing up a falcon ute - squint with one eye closed after a 6 pack or 2 its got a passing resemblance up front - as i kid myself all the block sanding will be worth it. That really does have a lot of foureye style cues to it. Such an interesting design.

started on the ute right after i got the 914 recommissioned.
been at it on and off through two shitty lockdowns. nearly finished. shit it had some rust in it. i think i got it all out. big fan of aussie fords in the 80s. the ute is a 95 but its really a continuation of the 80s series cars that started in 79. ford australia was lazy with the commercial range, just kept tacking on frontal updates for as long as they could. the sedans and wagons became a new 90s style car in late 88. here is an aussie fairlane i stumbled on a couple of months back when i was out vid exercising. some one drove it out of a time warp? i fell over in shock when i saw it. the american stuff from the same era is better. original ford taurus. brilliant everyman car for the usa? they went backwards afterwards. |

I bet that Fairlane has the same wonky CFI fuel injection my mustang has. highly likely. engine by that point was an anachronistic straight 6 - rear wheel drive. the V8s had bitten the dust due to drinking habits. Ah yes, the last of the V8 interceptors... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
