I have to replace the rear seal. Should I pull the transfer case or drop the whole engine?

I agree with Matt, just the transmission if you are just doing the rear main seal.
that way you dont have to disconnect the fuel likes and all the electric.
I will be doing the same due to RMS leak as well.

Agreed. If it's just the rear main, no need to drop the engine. BUT. If there's anything else you need to do (valves, inspection, pushrod tube seals, etc. I'd drop it.
