Reality is knocking. On my door and suggesting that having 6 914s is a bit overkill so going to sell a couple..

This car is a clean title longer term CA car that was pulled off the road 20 +/- years go and bought out of the Central Valley in Fresno. It was missing it’s original engine so I bought a matching 2 L engine and gearbox off Dylan that he compression tested at an even 150 on all four cylinders and it’s been a driver ever since.

It is cosmetically a bit rough but drives well. I thought I was going to be keeping this car so I mechanically got it dialed in the way I wanted:

-New brakes and brake lines
-Fuel tank was professional cleaned and sealed
-New rotary fuel pump
-Rebuilt Weber IDF twin carbs
-New Koni red struts up front and matching red rear shocks
-Rebuilt axles
-Alternator was pulled and tested
-New ignition cylinder and key
-Lights and signals work
-New clutch
-New throw out bearing
-New plugs and wires
-New coil
-New Pertronix distributor

Some things to be aware of:
-Like my Italian cars 2nd gear can’t be rushed until the gearbox is warmed up, synchro is marginal but shifts fine if you are deliberate
-Dent on driver side behind the front door, have replacement panel from donor car. Apparently someone moved this with a big fork lift when it was stored and the car slid on the lift and dented that side.
-Front trunk was cut for A/C, have replacement panel from donor car
-Front floors are great, passenger side behind seat needed localized patch
-Rear trunk needs small localized patch on passenger side flat area
-Tires should be replaced before roadtrip

Hell hole is in good shape, longs are good. Inner fenders are as they came from factory so don’t think it’s ever been hit.

Mechanically I really trust this one, new tires and I’d drive it cross county. Good car for a someone looking for an honest and straightforward car to do a rolling restoration on and/or to build up.

Clean CA title, no fees due. Current registration.

Located in Orange County. Will help coordinate shipping as needed.

Asking $8,499 with a bit of room to haggle.

That looks like a great deal, especially considering some of the cars that have popped up on the market lately. GLWTS!

Thanks Robert, it’s better than it presents, I suppose I could try buffing the paint out and tarting it up but I wanted to just present it as it is so people could get as honest of a look at it as possible.

I had actually intended to restore it cosmetically already but I was just having so much fun calling around Orange County in it that I kept putting it off.

Happy Holidays!

Sorry - should have included this;

The car was originally Marathon Blue Metallic.

That is paint code L96M, interior longs have original paint still.

Seems like an isolated case of a "return to sanity", when someone could actually buy a decent driver at a reasonable price. GLWTS!

Deposit taken - going to a fellow Southern California enthusiast.

Very pleased it’s going to be staying in the community, and thank you again for everyone that responded and inquired about the car.
