You unintentionally missed the costs of beer for the weekend.

At least, I hope it was unintentional...

Gotta do it right...we had 6 beer logs (sixtels) for the Indy Runoffs this year, all sponsored.

Priorities, man. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Dead on right guys! I dug deeper on the quote and they confirmed it was just STP. Will have to check out American Modern as well.

Does anyone here insure on track?

I did one time and decided it was more than I wanted to pay and so I just took the risk. I did carry STP through American Modern. My trailer and car were stolen in 2016. American Modern was ready to write a big check for the loss when the car was recovered - but with damage. They covered $8k in repairs to the car.

If you don't want to pay the premiums for on-track insurance like me, set aside in a bank account the deductible and then each race add the cost of on-track insurance. If you drive conservatively and are not unlucky you will in time have saved enough to be self-insured. Insurance companies try not to operate at a loss. They have evaluated the risk and loss ratios and this is why the premiums are what they are. I survived 23 years of wheel to wheel racing with only minor incidents (and no 13/13 sanctions). It was great fun (and expensive).

Good advice for sure. I have a reserve fund set aside already and prepared to walk away if needed but thought it may be reasonable to insure. I will see if American Modern rates are better than the Hagerty quote for STP and forego the on track coverage.

Now where did i put my beer money? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

As an aside, who here other than John (Kermee) runs in the mid to south east and with what orgs?

I have used https://ontrackinsurance.com/contact-us/ with great success. Steve Katz is also a fellow Porsche racer.

"HPDE PERFORMANCE DRIVING EVENT INSURANCE"

Doesn't cover wheel-to-wheel racing.

hey guys - my info may be pretty old, but around 2007 i started a SOVREN 356 project - with the project well underway, i decided to check for track insurance for vintage racing - i could not find any policies anywhere that covered a race car on the track for racing, i.e., not a "track day" - there were plenty of options for the paddock, trailer, etc, as well as for the person, but nothing for when you race - so i stopped the project, and headed in a different direction

i always use track insurance when i attend track days, which greatly increases the cost, so i do far fewer track days - i also highly recommend "on track insurance" - steve katz is a great guy

- also, from my experience, track insurance does not cover any "timed" events - when the 996/7's started having chrono packages, with the stop watch on the dash, there were questions about coverage - hope this helps

Yes given the responses i opted for the non-track policy that covers while stored and transporting. Covers everything except for when it hits the circuit. I don’t DE the car just racing so self insurance it wil have to be.
