Hi Folks,
The welding of my 2056 car is drawing to a close and I think of priming and painting. Normally I use a PPG epoxy like DP40. Right now I have some epoxy primer from Eastwood on hand. I plan to paint the car in the original silver, so I hope to use PPG DBC base coat under a PPG clear. Can I use the Eastwood product (that looks sort of like Kirker) underneath. The money is not my issue: it is trying not to be wasteful.
Thanks. Stay safe and happy.

I was always told to stick to the same brand.

I was always told to stick to the same brand.

Makes sense except I have a gallon with no other place to go. I should add that PPG makes great stuff. Thus the comment at the sales desk: “you know how much DCC costs?”

I would check with the paint rep from whatever companies product you plan the use over the Eastwood epoxy.

Use the Eastwood on the secondary surfaces, trunks, engine bay, etc. It's not going to make a difference in those areas IMHO

Spray the Eastwood epoxy to seal the bare metal. Let it cure for a couple of days, scuff sand it and spray some PPG filler primer over the top of it. I don't think that's a problem. If you're nervous do the 2" tape test. Stick the tape down with pressure and then pull it off fast as if it's going to hurt.
Once they took the lead out of DP epoxy it hasn't been my favorite. Tastes great and less filling.
