After filling my brake system with all new components and stainless hard lines, I found several leaking connections. When I installed all the lines I made up the connections as tight as I normally would. Do the stainless lines, and flared ends, need more torque to seat and seal?

yes, ss is harder than the stock lines and doesn't crush to shape as easily. Eric Shea might have some comments or tricks to help you.

According to some online sources, a good way to get the stainless lines to seat properly is to cycle tight-loose 5 or 6 times, and then tighten. That is supposed to assist seating by progressive deformation of the flare.

I got some stainless lines from PMB and had the same problem. Finally sent them back and got the regular steel. They told me the same thing (afterwards...); you have to really tighten down hard to seat the flare.
I also found the SS lines were much harder to make minor bend adjustments when installing. In the end, staying with the factory steel was just easier. |

This is why I like the nicklecopper brake lines. It bends easy, and it really takes that flare and seals up great.
