I am curious to know from those who have done the backpad delete and used perlon to cover the firewall.

Is the perlon flexible(stretchy) enough to conform to the contours or are there still areas where it needs to have triangles cut out of it to accommodate areas where the felt might bunch up?

Can it be done in one piece or is it recommended to do a center and side pieces

If you buy the perlon without a backing, it’s stretchy enough to apply without cutting.

The one I bought (on eBay) have three pieces stitched together along vertical seams that follow either side of the center raised section.

I did 80% wool felt... from McMaster Carr. Installed in 2 pieces split right down the middle. Much nicer than Perlon and absorbs sound better.
