I have a couple of spares and was thinking of getting one rebuilt. The local shop quoted $104.00 per hour for rebuild, I’m a CSOB the rock auto price of $55.00 is tempting. Anyone had good luck with the cheap option?

I would go with a local builder. My shop charges $125. You cant get much for $55.

You will find LOTS of listings for 914 alternators UNTIL you try to buy one. Put one in the shopping cart and see what happens. Almost NLA or available at a stupid price.

always buy bosch, too many problems with aftermarket brands and the masses who are supposedly rebuilding them
