With the cross country runs i usually end up taking to get to the World events, cruise would be a nice option. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

As with a lot of what I spend my time on: will this help get the car running? No.
Am I doing it anyway? Yes. Yes, I am. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Glad I'm not the only one here who is OCD.

What plastic are you printing with and which Bambu printer is that?

@tomeric914 - Printer is a Bambu Labs H2D and for prototyping stuff like this I use PLA as it's cheap, easy to print and works pretty well as its own support material, when that's needed.
For the final pieces, I think I'll be using ASA or ABS. I haven't used those yet but they're both spec'd as stronger and suitable for higher temp and UV. More as I get into those materials.

Cruise control... something I never missed until I got old. Now I wish my car had cruise and of course, AC. So nicely done Chris - excellence was expected and delivered, of course. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

For the speedometer pickup, using the 6 bolts will work but it may make the speedometer a bit "jumpy". On my Bug, I purchased an output flange that had maybe 28-30 machined "slots" all the way around that the Hall effect sensor picked up on which worked great. I know I kept the paper somewhere but I can't seem to put my hands on it.

The other way would be to design a toothed ring that uses the CV joint bolts to located it. Certainly another great opportunity to have something produced by SendCutSend.

Drive train out one last time (I hope) before starting. I have a bit more fab work and it's far easier with everything removed. When you see it out of the car, it's hard to believe it fits in a 914.

@markhoward - Yep, I wanted to do a couple things to RacerBenz while the LS car is off getting its upholstery. Come up and help me fit the steering column and shifter. I want it to be comfortable for as wide a range of drivers as possible.

Yes, it doesn't look like it'll fit in there. It's more like you fit the 914 around the motor/transmission (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif).

Love how your "power pac" come out in a single chunk, doesn't look like you have to take anything off of it!

Subframes WORK!

How long does it take to you to rip it out now?

That exhaust system is a work of art!

@Ninja - The QuickJacks don't get high enough to pull it out as a unit. The intake manifold and air/oil separator have to be removed. I'm trying to work out how to get another foot of height so I CAN pull it out as it sits here. There are 7 fasteners holding it in the chassis so it's pretty quick to remove/install. Probably about 20 minutes - without any support systems connected.

That engine is so cool you need to start over and build the rear of the body out of clear polycarbonate.

And here's part of why the drive train had to come out:
- hard lines for the clutch and rear brakes
- battery box/mount

Still to be done are a mount for the Mega Fuses and making/installing the main power cables and grounds.

And I'll add that it took me a couple attempts to get the clutch and passenger side hard lines to look as nice as I wanted. Still a couple spots that could be nicer. You can't see this stuff with the drive train installed so I'm calling this done.
