Getting so close; nice to see it spin and that oil pressurization tank is definitely next level stuff. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Chris , thank you for this tip on pre-oil; I just canceled the plan to pre-oil the Cayenne engine via spinning the dry sump pump via drill motor.
Since I have minimal space to do so in that area...I will do it your way> simple job with the right equipment ¡ Blue arrow indicates CW direction which I would need to spin pump, tight area near lower firewall and require (small) 90° offset drill motor. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/marty914.jpg) |

Chris. You’ll love the mid rise lift. Just high enough to do pretty much everything and yet still “portable” to reposition as necessary. A bit heavy but I bet you figure out a retractable set of wheels to make moving it easier.
Get this car running!! |

Curious as to what was happening on the progress with the Ferrari 914, I went to YouTube and found out @tygaboy Chris forgot to update this thread. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
He does say at the end "Tell all your friends", so I am! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Link to #100. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIarMRG7Zo0 As ususal, great work! Love the heating solution. I know others have done this for the A/C too. |

Thanks for posting the link. Very clean design for the defroster/heater. Yeah, every time I see a 914 with the defroster rain hat painted it looks poor. That is one of the small things that can elevate the appearance of a car to the next level. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I enjoy watching Chris' videos. It gives me confidence to tackle things on my own car. Now I have to go pull my passenger for panel off and straighten out a couple things. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Spoiler alert for the next video: It's going to be a tech geek fest on the electronics package. At this point, the engine is still out of the car and I'm not trying to start it. All I'm trying to do is establish base timing information. This is a required step ahead of trying to fire the engine.
So, for the first time, I connected key elements of the engine harness to the engine (as well as battery power!) to the ECU. That alone took 2 years off my life. Then it was the moment of truth: Say a prayer to the Gods Of Wiring and turn the key to "on"... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) SUCCESS! NO SMOKE ESCAPED! Then, the big nerve wracking step: Crank the engine! What your seeing here is the result after a bit of "well, that ain't right" and a re-pinning of a sensor: Here's a snapshot of the Haltech's oscilloscope showing two strong traces. A bit hard to tell in the pic but: - the upper, yellow one is from the crank position sensor. It's a reluctor sensor and generates a sine wave - the blue one is from the cam position sensor. It's a hall effect sensor and generates a square wave What's most important is the Ferrari's trigger system is communicating perfectly with the Haltech R5! This is a major milestone for the build as we've established the key values needed to attemp the first start. Getting there! Slowly, I know. But getting there. Attached thumbnail(s) |
