No. I replaced my speedo with oil gauges years ago, so it was no big deal on my car. Having a speedo with a converted 915 is a complicated issue, so I'll let someone who's done it explain the details.

915 got electric speedo in 1976.

so - '72-'75 mechanical speedo will work as long as you have a 7:31 915 (most early ones). unfortunately, the earliest 915's are the least desirable.

I have a newer 915 gearbox with an electronic pickup and an electronic speedometer. It works great.

Andy, question, howed you hook up your electronic speedo, did you have your ring fliped, and then had the opposite side of the case machined for the electronic speedo pickup, or did you flip your tranny.

I read Clay's thread and mine was done the same way - the pickup was moved to the other side of the transmission.
