1970 914-6 were fitted with a Marelli distributor. Whereas 1971-1972 cars had Bosch distributors. The Marelli distributor came in AX and BX versions. Cars built prior to April 1970 would have CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) and a Marelli BX. BX models did not have a condenser, as it wasn’t necessary for cars with CDI . Those without CDI utilized the AX.

Weak points of the Marelli have included difficulty in obtaining parts.

It has an aluminum body.

Pictured is a refurbished Marelli S112 BX distributor with the cap and retaining clips removed.
