Only Car Stolen ??...Get an Attorney ...Pressure the Shop, Not a Coincident.. Somebody there knows Something.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif)

This post sure sounds worthwhile to me....just my 2 cents of knowing people for a while...something stinks here...IMHO....

Just heartbreaking to hear something like this. Agree with Oscar there has to be some cameras in the area I sure hope so. Had a car stolen once, certainly not of this caliber, but all the same it is the absolute worst feeling. As a fellow GT tribute owner, it really hits close to home. Sincerely hope it is recovered.

So sorry this happened. I know how it feels, I had a restored 75 Carrera stolen from a shop also. My experience was my insurance (Haggerty) took charge of this. Again, sorry you are going through this. Hopefully it will turn up soon.

Huntington Beach PD is a better than average PD. Contact them, ask for their auto theft detective. Make sure he/she knows the value, and that it’s not a common 914. Make sure the patrol officer who took the report notified him/her your car was targeted. Ask them if they’ve canvassed for cameras. Supply the detective with a picture, and ask him/her to notify customs at Long Beach and LA harbors. Remember, with law enforcement being stretched thin, the squeaky wheel. We're sad and sorry for your loss. Your baby would be difficult to hide or sell. What does the repair contract state about responsibility for the vehicle? Does it state that they are not responsible for theft or damage? Who was the last mechanic to park it? Who locked the yard gate? Seems to smell like an inside heist. I'd get an attorney and ask for depositions from every employee. Car thefts have increased. Keep us posted. Best Regards~

Fingers crossed that they find your car just parked and out of gas on the side of the road. Post on every car site you can think about and include pictures. Hopefully someone sees your cr and calls the coppers. Made me sick to see this thread.

So sorry to hear this, hits especially close to home because our cars and builds are so similar, hope its found in one piece but given the story it sounds like it was cherry picked which is even more concerning.

Reminder to everyone to make sure your insurance is dialed in on values etc...you never know...

Does the shop still have the keys? Any lock shops nearby? Any copies made recently?

So sorry to hear of this and hope it's found quickly. Sounds like a well-thought out plan , not a random heist. Good Luck

Thanks for all the comments and concerns.

I have just learned from Hagerty that I cannot accept a settlement from them and then go after the shop for any difference from insured value and market value. This is most likely because Hagerty will be going after the shop to recover their loss.

I had decided I wanted to make the car perfect, it was at Autowerkes to address a leaky transmission. I also had plans for some new minor mods in process, it is much easier to love your baby when she is perfect and not constantly marking the floor.

Yes I had talked about selling earlier this year and talked to Bringatrailer, they loved the car BUT the leaky trans is an issue. She was not far off from being a super high dollar seller at BAT, sad.

Man what a bummer. I'm not an expert in this stuff but I'd still talk to a lawyer if it was me. Hagerty may say that but it doesn't mean its right and the only option.

Good luck!

I'm trying to imagine what a thief is going to do with it? Sell for parts? Even that would be tough to do IMO. Have you posted engine serial numbers/etc?

I think that getting a good estimate of the value would be boosted due to your build thread here. Your car is certainly unique in many ways and I'd guess it would be difficult to sell as is...I hate to think of it being cut up for just parts.
