The Porsche workshop manual lists a couple Volkswagen sealing compounds used when assembling the starter. Does anyone know what modern equivalents would be good replacements?
  • Volkswagen plastic sealing compound D14: Used on the starter for sealing the surface between solenoid switch and mounting bracket
  • Volkswagen housing sealing compound D3: Used on the starter to prevent damage due to water: Holes for end cap screws, holes for housing screws, joint between pole housing and end plate, joint between pole housing and mounting bracket, holes for solenoid switch screws
The Google machine isn't turning up much as a direct match, but many sealants for very different purposes. I'll call my local VW dealership later today, but they haven't been much help in the past.
