Going to need to send mine back. Too large, kept falling off. Installed them, big humps. Showing pictures of factory, earlier 914 Rubber and one I got Monday.

The rubber man

Check the profile of the rubber there are 2 ways to install it.
The profile has a small step for the lens that makes it fit perfectly around the lens. I install this 1st then install the base into the other slot. Doing so you can make sure you have it in the correct slot. The rubbing is an indication that the base is not fitting on the rubber and getting caught on the step.

If you look closely the profile looks something like this,
