Running the engine last night just to heat cycle it, run some gas through the carbs, and just generally because I like hearing it run and I noticed my coil had departed its mounting location and was resting on the fan/pully. So, it is damaged and needs to be replaced. Note that I mount the coil to the fan shroud (as in a bus) as I am using the "normal" mounting location for a throttle cable bracket.
I have been running the Bosch "blue" coil for years on this car, and for decades previously on a 1976 Bus that was slightly built. Never had an issue. But I think I have read here, and on The Samba that some folks have disdain for the Bosch Blue coil? Anywho, wondering what the group thinks about a replacement? Back to the Blue? |
