I'm considering a couple of P car projects (914, 928) but I need a space to work on them to make either project viable. I'm currently in a leased townhome until I buy and/or build next year. I have a nice 2.5 car garage now but I'm limited to light vehicle maintenance, not welding, grinding. cutting, running a large compressor, etc.

I'd be willing to swap out labor on things like welding body panel patches, repairs, disassembly / reassembly, detailing, etc.

This also leads into my next question, are there any 928 owners here in the Knoxville area?

IIRC, there was, or possibly still is, a car-dominium type place in Knoxville that was a membership arrangement with a shared workshop space, hang out areas and bays to store your cars. I've been looking for it but can't find it online.

74 914 2.0 project is in my garage, but now I urgently need additional space do heavy work on it and to put another donor car I found and perhaps a fairly big stash of 914 parts. I can do some work on it in here but the neighbors in my gated townhome community are only so tolerant...

Can anyone recommend a workshop-for-lease place in Knoxville or a reasonable U-Store it place near me in the Amherst area of Knoxville? There was a bunch of workshop places in St. Pete where I moved from but haven't found any in Knoxville.

I've found the ideal donor car for the project above: a 74 1.8 in Phoenix Red with terminal rust... but I have no place to put it or work on it!

ANY leads, ideas, Knoxville area contacts on rentable workshop spaces would be greatly appreciated!!!

Dont know of any local shops for rent, but I do know of a local light project that doesn't require any heavy lifting.

That's nice! I had an early willow green barn find when I lived in Knoxville previously, not nearly as nice as yours! Sold it to a guy in OH as a roller. He was going to make a race car out of it ...and change the color. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Thanks for letting me know about your teener. I'm pretty tied up with my current 74 2.0 and hopefully picking up another 1.8 donor car soon.

Still looking for a workshop space... ANY leads would be appreciated !!

I'm finding it hard to believe that workshop spaces are so hard to find in Knoxville. After living in St. Petersburg / Pinellas county where there was at least a dozen facilities that offered auto enthusiasts, wood workers, landscapers or other hobbyists rental spaces relatively inexpensively on a month to month or short term rental basis.

Visited Don's shop today. His place is like a candy store...rebuilt 911 engines and trans stacked up like cord wood, a 53 pre-A 356, pristine 69 911 S w/ mechanical injection and period correct AC system, 2 914-6's, etc. etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)

This was one of the sixes:

The other was Don's racer six.

Don couldn't offer any leads in Knoxville for workshop spaces (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Still looking....

Looks like I may have found 2 workshop spaces for lease in the Knoxville. One is $350 / month and one is $600 / month.

I think either space may fit 2 teeners. Would anybody in the area want to share either of these spaces?
