I've got a few 3D printed parts on both my 914 and my VW.

On the 914 I replaced the solenoid trunk release with a pull cable similar to the engine cover, 3D printed a matching knob and trim piece for inside the cabin. It's a close enough match I don't always remember which knob opens which lid (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

VW Squareback, I have an air filter housing that is 3D printed to connect to the fresh air port in the body so I'm not sucking in hot engine bay air. And I have a "stubby" oil filler so that it fits under the engine cover.

Here is my 3d printed Guage pod. Printed from ASA so it can handle a hot car interior. Attached Image

This thread got me thinking about a fix for my broken fresh air box drain tube:

I didn't know you were part of the 914World forum. I came across your stuff on thingiverse a while back haha. I even posted your dual outlet and single outlet heater fan link in a thread here one day.

Hi Folks,

I bought 1972 914 last summer and I've been working on various little improvements to restore/repair some issues. This forum has been a great resource - an ongoing source of information and advice, so thanks to everyone who has contributed their experience.

While performing the various fixes, I decided to 3D print some of the little bits that I needed along the way. Most are actually available and not expensive, but: 1) I live in Canada and it can be annoying paying shipping, duty, taxes that end up being 2-10x the cost of the actual parts and 2) I wanted to take on the learning challenge and come up with my own solutions.

My designs are shared on Thingiverse and you can download the STL files for printing as well as the original FreeCAD files I created them with. They are mostly nothing special, but perhaps they will be useful to others some time. I looked around and did not find anywhere here where we can catalogue 3D printable parts for our cars, so perhaps we can start with these. I'd love to see what other people have come up with too.

The items I have so far are:

- Marker light clips
- Targa bar trim buttons
- Window winder handle trim rings
- Window regulator buttons
- Rear brake adjuster covers
- Trim washers for M5 flat screws
- Button plungers for contact switches

I'll be pleased to answer any questions or take your suggestions for improvements.

My friend has a 3D printer and I have a product I like to have him print. So I need help to scan and provide file to print at a fee. This a base for the Cibie Hood lights for a 914 Porsche to put the light at the correct angle. Best Mark

@mlindner
This part looks very simple to re-draw in CAD and you will get much better results if you print from a fresh CAD file versus a scan. I'll be happy to make you a new CAD file if you can send me the dimensions. PM me if interested.
