23.3 will NOT work on 914 stock rear quarters but the RSR offset will

QUOTE(technicalninja @ Feb 7 2023, 09:14 PM) *

New member here...

I'm piss poor at the search function on this site and was trying to find fitment info on this set up.

https://fuchswheelcompany.ca/product/16x7-f...eel-for-porshe/

They list it a 16X7 with an offset of 23.3.

From what I have found so far, they look like they might require 12 mm spacers to work on a stock 75 914 narrow body.

This car will be at or near stock ride height and a weekend play toy. It currently has no sway bars but that will probably change...

I'm planning on using PBR's 5 lug 914-4 front rotors, the Uro 914 5 lug rear flange with turned down PBR 914-6 rear rotors, and stock calipers.

I'd like to use this tire. (205/60r16)

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchRe...performance=ALL

I'm new to the 914 and can't figure offsets properly yet on this chassis

I would appreciate thoughts, tips and any suggestions.

Do I have a chance?

You gave me a fright (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif) I tried to kill the deal. No way, used a debit card, never again, thought I was screwed...

Wheels and center caps came quickly.
Wheels are very nice and looked identical to a set bought from Maxlight by 914Sixer that I saw when I picked up a bunch of stuff from him.

The wheels were packaged EXACTLY like Mark's as well. Each wheel had a foam sheet, a "hair net" and plastic rings around the perimeter on both sides.

There is one factory pumping these out and selling them to multiple distributors.

The center caps which came with the wheels were blank but a second set with fairly nice Porsche Crests on them were included. They are concave and the real McCoy's are convex, saw those at Marks as well.

I'm not going to pay $500 for real center caps as these look pretty good.
I'm not going to try and pass off copies of Fuchs as real either.

The lug nuts were a no-show. Multiple e-mails have not gotten a real response from the seller. I'm going to have to purchase a set myself.

Not total scammer but not straight up either.
I'm still happy with my purchase...

Finally received the lug nuts...
They look ok like the rest of the stuff I got from him.
Look powder coated maybe.
As long as I use a padded socket they should work fine.

So, it took awhile but I was not scammed at all...

Overall I'm happy with my purchase from DR911 but I'm going to be more careful in the future regarding vendors.

Thanks for all the help I received from you guys!

I e-mailed DR911 and got a responce.

Their wheels are also TUV certified.

That was enough for me...

Ordered 4 @ 210 each. $840 delivered to my shop with black closed lug nuts which look pretty decent IMO. Also includes center caps with painted crests.
Jurys still out on if they will be ok.

I'll post pics after I get them.

I decided to wimp out and not go 7" on the wheels. The standard 7 offset is 23.3 and fender rolling MIGHT be necessary. The car these are going on will stay totally "stock" in regards to the body.

Porsche themselves puts 205 section widths on 6" anyway.

I prefer a 7 or even an 8 for this width as these widths better supports the tire for performance reasons.

This car will be a weekend toy for me and my 82 year-old father and it will never see a race track.

Now, had a 7" been available with a 30-35 mm ET the decision would have been more difficult.

We also own a 76 basket case fiberglass 916 clone that will need buttloads of metal work and this is the car that I will heavily modify.

It will end up with steel fenders and monster tires.

Thanks again for all the help. I far better understand back spacing on a 914 chassis now.

Less than 48 hours with plenty of good suggestions/tips

You guys definitely helped me make my choice.

This place ROCKS!

I realize this post is going on 2 years old but looking at the dr911 site those same wheels are $539 each am I missing something or have they gone up that much. You posted $210 each. I too am looking for 6x16's. Thanks

His website looks screwed up.

When I bought the black faced wheels were CHEAP and the RSR finish wheels were EXPENSIVE.
In 16x6 and 16X7 he had both styles.

Look at the listing for 15x8. Two available and black is 206. RSR is 675...

I'd send an e-mail.

I'm still happy with my purchase but BUYER BEWARE!

This puppy IS a scammer!

I found enough crap that I TRIED to kill the purchase.

After I purchased those wheels Mepstein posted some used real Fuchs (driver quality) very reasonably priced.

I bought 2 16X7 real Fuchs for $500!

I'm actively hunting the 944-rear version 16X8 I believe.

I'd choose real "beat up" Fuchs over clones any day.

I've also got a Boxster with 17s (wrong LOOK!) but lots of folks have been able to fit Boxster wheels under a non-flared car.

It takes some "doing"

Spacers are required.

But it CAN be done!

The reason I included this is tire availability...

In 16s we have multiple choices. SO much better than 15s.

But in 17s those choices go MONSTER!

So much stuff and sizes available in 17s.

And, for the most part, due to competition between tire manufactures, the 17s are CHEAPER!

17s get a little bit "too big" for a 914 in appearance. I can live with that.

17" Boxster wheels are currently in-expensive as well.

From a budget standpoint the 17" wheels KICK ASS!

Back then there were multiple places to buy the clones.

I think "MaxLight" was the normal source for most folks.

They were $30+ more expensive each than DR911. Shipping charges as well.

DR911 had free shipping then.

I DID have one problem...

I had the tire mounted and balanced by the local Discount tires.

Shit happened, other stuff got in the way, my father up and died...

Wheels never got mounted on the car. I am doing a 5-lug conversion to the car that is NOT finished.

I noticed, on two of the wheels, the FREAKING wheel weights FELL OFF.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

They make a special heavy roller than you are SUPPOSED to use after you apply the stick on weights. This helps bond the adhesive to the wheel.

If I'm doing used wheels, I'll clean the shit out of the barrels to assist with the adhesion of the weights.

The tire shops NEVER clean the wheels...

These were NEW and even then I cleaned the barrels with dish soap and water.

Those puppies DID NOT use that roller tool!

And, really, I know better.

I didn't either...

Now I get to take them back, before ever using them, and have them re-balanced!

Carlos's wheels were a KILLER deal.
I'd buy those in a heartbeat!
You can't buy new rubber for $400...
I'm not a fan of Falkens but I'd be FINE with those!
