Has anyone used flex head flare nut wrenches on the brakes? Are they better, worse or no different than non-flex head ones?

I need to buy an 11mm (for the brake line into the caliper) and 8 mm (for the speed bleeders) and thought I would ask before I bought anything.

Thanks!

When it comes to new tools, the right answer is always "both".

I would buy the standard type first. The size of the flex head might get in the way. The standard ones work well.
But I agree, both of them is the right answer.

I'm going back and forth about buying just the two wrenches I need, a standard set or a flex head set. I don't need both! HA!

Has anyone used the flex head set on a 914 brake caliper and found that it works just fine? I think the flex might be too big to fit on the speed bleeder, but has anyone used one?

Eh… I think those are a bit much. I plan to add a set of crowfoot flare wrenches with the standard wrenches so I can check torques.

I have the flex heads. They work fine on my calipers. Been useful too on the master cylinder.

I would strongly suggest buying a flare nut wrench that says Snap-On on it…nothing else I’ve used fits and works as well.

I borrowed a neighbor's Snap-On flare nut wrench. It doesn't fit much better than the Craftsman ones I just got.

I got one of these (11 mm). Very handy for fittings in tight spaces. Amazon now seems to sell only a complete set.

When you use them every day you'll find that the Snap-on just works...it's a rare occasion where a tube nut becomes damaged. My 11mm gets daily use on brake lines....cannot remember the last time a tube nut with an 11mm hex sustained damage due to the tool.

I recently spread my somewhat rarely used Craftsman 3/8" flare nut wrench when I was working on a crossover pipe on a set of Ford Mustang calipers....Snap on guy was nowhere to be found so I ordered a Proto from McMaster...relatively top shelf brand IMO...it's garbage.
Ordered a Snap-On and all is well again.
