I don't think Mike's 914s in Colborne is still doing chassis work as I saw an ad for their rotisserie.

Members in Ontario will chime in.

I suggest you post some pictures here to get some good advice also.

Restoration Design may be a good source to find a shop near you that is a customer of RD?

My preferred shop is booked for 18 months currently. But I think Chris inquired with him already.

I don't think Mike's 914 is doing work anymore - I hope I'm wrong but the website that he had no longer exists. I wanted to reach out to Mike Galloway to see if he does transmission work. Both of my 914s need either synchros or something replaced/fixed.

As for Mark Henry, several people have had difficulty reaching him of late and he hasn't been on 914world since January. When I last spoke to him he was only doing engine upgrades - no maintenance type of work. Either super busy or scaling back?

I'm in Kingston, and I've visited this shop a couple of times, although I haven't actually had any work done there (yet). May be worth looking into, if you can't find a good shop in Ottawa or Toronto:

https://www.classicautomotiverepair.ca/contact-us/

Obviously not a Porsche specialist, but a classic car specialist.

We had about 8 guys gathered at Mosport this month, and this was certainly a topic of discussion. Mike Galloway is in very poor health at the moment, and barely able to get about. It was great to talk with him when we were at Mark Henry's shop that weekend. Mark himself is trying to recover from hernia surgery and other ailments as well. Both Mark and Mike are trying to scale back from doing repairs. None of us are young anymore and most are about 70 give or take. We talked about a few shops the guys knew of, but none that we could take our cars to at this time. I will poll the guys, and see if we can come up with a shop that can take our work.
I am open to emails on the subject.

For trans work, buy a big Rubbermaid tote, and send the trans to Evilwerk. Perhaps a quick border crossing for shipping will save some dough.

"none of us are young anymore"

what happened? There must be some young guys looking to take over

Myself I am in the 4th quarter and on my 4th 914 restoration, and running my small business 50+ hours and not ready to slow down, but I might be one of the lucky ones. Add 6 local grand kids and it makes for not a boring life

Located in Buffalo, right over the border, but probably have very little time available except for a consult or two over a beer
