What are the group's sentiments/experiences with a DIY overhaul of the brake pressure regulator? Can't find any shop manual references, which is usually ominous!

The factory manual does discuss trouble shooting and remedies, but not what you were looking for.
 They do have a cross sectional view and instructions on how to adjust it. It looks pretty simple. Even so, I sent mine to PMB. |
