Oh lengthened the front shift rod and shortened the rear shift rod with an added offset at the shift housing. The previous owner had a straight rod in the rear which people shared is not the way to go. After fussing with it a bunch, I can see how much the offset will help.
Since the front shift rod was too short, it was smashing against the firewall bushing. I’ve kind of been fighting the previous owners work throughout my repairs and modifications. We’re a lot of issues with the mechanicals, but fortunately all the welding, stiffening of the chassis, metal flares, etc were well done. That’s been a huge relief. Going through the gears while up on the rack it seems pretty well adjusted. Looks like a good place to start at least. |

Shout out to @tygaboy for sharing his welding and fabricating influence and confidence inspiring of the “it’s just metal” philosophy. I have been able to build up some basic skill sets in the welding arena through his proctoring. It really is a step-by-step process, looking at how each change influences the rest of the dominoes. I bet that was some work. I thought about wrapping the upper screen over the edge on the sides but it just looked like more work than I wanted to put into it. My hats off. How does it fit? Waiting for the paint to fill cure before I fit it. Shouldn’t be any fitment issues. Nothing painted comes in contact with the seals. Of all the projects it’s really not very difficult or time-consuming. A lot of bang for buck and for the time commitment. |

Felt that the E brake needed little more support. Made a little bracket to weld onto the trailing arm and then will add a holder to the cable housing. Just had to make sure everything was lined up.
