I am replacing the transmission output shaft seal and the Haynes manual states to lube with transmission lube. That still the generally accepted procedure?

I am replacing the transmission output shaft seal and the Haynes manual states to lube with transmission lube. That still the generally accepted procedure? I use white grease for the lip of the seal, dry for the seating area. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) |

I use some high pressure grease on outside, light coat, and then dry on inner mating surface.
