my throttle return spring came unattached, simple enough but i am unsure what the best configuration/connection point is for attaching it to the throttle and then to the tin or whatever. Can you critique my work? see photo.

That is not the correct location. There is a small hole in the top of the rear engine tin on the left side for the spring anchor. If you run your fingers along the top of the rear tin, you will feel the hole. It is usually covered by the seal.
