one of my best friends is asking me where he should go to buy some
new Shocks/Struts for his new purchase, a used Tercel.

anyone with Experience with toyota's?

someone told him to look at kyb's,
but I told him there has got to be better shocks out there than kyb's.

Can't speak on the Trecel - but I did the 90 Camry about 6 weeks ago (rears only). Went to Nationwide Auto parts - I believe I got KYB (package does not tell you - I found it on the side of the strut). Price wise they were about $60 apiece.
Time wise - about an hour or so per side.

Now I am redoing the front end - needs a new clutch, cv's, and brake refrub. Last one I will ever do - to get the clutch out - you end up taking out most of the front end. Good thing I was already planning on replacing the cv's. A ton o work. I should mention it is the #2 daughters car.

When I worked on these things for a living... we called the Turdcels.

They are fairly cheap, disposable cars. If he decides to buy shocks, get the cheapest thing pep boys sells. He won't get his money's worth out of an expensive one before the rest of the car falls apart around them.
